Disneyland Paris resort, which is divided into three sections, is more compact than its American counterparts are and is considered more attractive. Disneyland Park, with Main Street and Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, is the largest, comprising all of Disney’s fabled “lands”— Fantasyland, Discoveryland, Adventureland, Frontierland, plus live shows, parades, and encounters.
Cinema-themed Walt Disney Studios highlights a behind-the-scenes look at special effects, animations, and new movie-themed attractions in rides like Toy Playland and Ratatouille, plus live dance and music shows, animation workshops, and projects for all ages.
At the Disney Village, you can see a movie, catch a dinner show, shop, or grab a cocktail or coffee at one of at least a dozen themed bars. You will also find the World of Disney mega-boutique and the much-loved Lego store.
More Adventure for thrill-seekers
Only because it is Disney does not mean thrill-seekers would not find some hard-core rides. As it happens, Disneyland Paris’s Space Mountain is the fastest of Disney’s five Space Mountain roller coasters throughout the world. It takes not more than two seconds for riders to be thrust from one to 46 mph, thanks to some advanced engineering. In reality, the ride uses the same technology discovered in aircraft carriers. Ditto for the high-intensity power-launch Rock ‘n’ Roller-coaster with Aerosmith, but get there soon, after this summer it will close to be modified into a high-speed Iron Man-Avengers adventure, starring a life-size Iron Man. However, you will still have the Indiana Jones and Big Thunder Mountain roller coasters.
Some useful tips when visiting Disneyland Paris:
1) Disney can be hell for health nuts. At Disney Village, you will find the only juice cart serving juices prepared with fresh and frozen fruit.
2) Should you find yourself unprepared for a headache, upset tummies, allergies, or any other annoying ailment, there is no drugstore at Disneyland Paris, but the Disneyland Paris hotel boutique does have a small pharmacy for necessities.
3) Disney’s Baby Switch service permits a family member who is at least 14 years of age to stay with kids too small to take the ride and then ride them without having to go through the line twice. There is also a free stroller-loan service in case you do not feel like hauling your own.
Meet the Disney Characters:
There is nothing more overwhelming for kids than to meet their beloved Disney stars up-close and personal. In addition, one of the park’s principal selling points is the possibility for interaction with a cast of favorite characters. Meet ‘n’ Greets with the characters are scheduled at least twice a day, sometimes more for beloved characters like Aladdin, Woody, Peter Pan, and others—which you will find on a dedicated program upon entry into the park.
Immortalize your Disney encounters with the PhotoPass service, offering high-quality expert digital photos of you or your kids with their beloved characters. Make sure you show your pass before the encounter, and then pictures are uploaded onto your account.
